Math-A-Thon:  The Math-A-Thon is a PTO sponsored challenge designed to promote math skills and continued learning during the summer vacation. While participation in this event is optional, we hope the parents and teachers will find the worksheets to be an opportunity to keep students excited about math.  The worksheets can be used reinforce grade level skills through math games and an engaging code search.  Students participate in a brief math enrichment activity in their classrooms prior to the Math-A-Thon kick-off.  Grade level activities may include measuring, estimating and graphing, thereby incorporating the use of everyday math.  Collection of “pledges” is optional.

Book Fairs:   The Fall and Spring Book Fairs bring with them opportunity for parents and children to find excellent books at a great price.  We are fortunate to have an invaluable resource guiding us in book selections, High Plain’s librarian, Ms. Bresnahan.  Together with book fair coordinators, a wide range of grade appropriate reading materials are offered for sale.  All proceeds from the book fairs are put directly back into our school library in the form of new and exciting book selections for the students.  Additionally, teachers often select books they would like to have for their classroom libraries which can be purchased and donated by families.

Evening of Giving:  Once a year, just before the start of the Holiday Season, the PTO coordinates the Evening of Giving.  This event allows ticket holders exclusive access to the Mall at Rockingham Park after hours on a Sunday evening.  Participating stores run special promotions and discounts, not to mention holiday shopping without the crowds! 

Restaurant Nights:  Throughout the school year, the PTO coordinates “Restaurant Nights” with local businesses.  On select dates, a portion of the restaurant’s proceeds are returned to the PTO to benefit fundraising efforts.  This year, restaurant nights are planned with DiSH and The Chateau.

Grant Writing: Every year the PTO searches out and applies for grants reflecting the funding needs of our programs and special requests made by the teachers and staff.
