What does the PTO do at the school?

  • The PTO sends out a weekly email blast to help keep parents informed about events happening at their child's school. To sign up for the email blast please go to the home page of this website.
  • HPE PTO is now on Facebook! If you are a member of Facebook you can click like on our link on the home page.
  • Adventures in Learning (coordinated by Dana Katz) meets with teachers to identify and implement programs that will enhance the curriculum. Past programs have included presentations in the areas of science, nature, art, history, meteorology and literature. These are the amazing assemblies that your child comes home and tell you about.
  • O.W.L. (Outdoor World of Learning is a program where parents are trained in five different well planned science lessons. The parents then go into the classroom and present the lesson to the students with the goal of getting students outside and thinking about their relationship to the world of science. Four Winds Nature Institute in Vermont is the trainer of this program. Lisa Scott is the person to speak to if you would like to participate.
  • Book Fair! A Book Fair is held twice a year at the school. The book fair helps the library get lots of exciting new books each year.
  • The PTO puts on lots of family oriented events to promote a involved school community. Some of these are: Back to School Picnic, Haunted Happenings Halloween Party, Restaurant Nights throughout the year, Science Night, Pasta Palooza!, Boys Outing, Sweetheart Dance, Teacher's Appreciation Luncheon, School Picnic, Fun Run and an Ice Cream Social! (wow that's a lot!)
  • Every month there is a PTO meeting. Everyone is welcome! The more parents who voice their thoughts the better! Children are allowed at these meetings. Please see the PTO calendar for dates and times.
